Life in the Gerontological Centre is organized through the work of six organizations in order for our users to be motivated through the various contents for the reactivating of remaining mental and physical abilities. Acttivites of the users are supposed to strenghten their social stability, and their integrity, making the positive effect as far as the institution and their own work are concerned. Besides, the users get material goods, they can travel, they can go on the excursion and so on.

1) The host

The primary task of this organization is the reception of the users and the maintainance of calm and order. There are 20 members in this organization, but the rest of the users who are interested in this job can also be included in this organization. There is also the project called "The Most Beautiful Room" and the users whose rooms are the most beautiful are awarded. The members of this organization make the schedule of the duty, because their medical state and mood can be changed.

2) The help in the house and in the wash-room

It has to do with doing various kinds of housework (the maintainance of the hygiene of shared rooms, of the yard, the washing of dishes and loundry and the keeping of vegetables clean). In this organization, 20 members and also 10 members who are not always involved in this job due to their changeable medical state, work.

3) The library

It offers the reading of the daily newspapers. Besides, the library has even more than 600 books and it has 20 members who are readers. This organization offers associating among poets and writers from homes and other institutions, it also uses the services of the Town Library, it collects literary papers, it has wall newspapers, and it gives the performance for various occasions.

4) The handicraft

It has to do with handicraft made of linen, wool, thread and of other materials. The members of this organization are old ladies who want and like to do handicraft, which means that they like to do crochet-work, they like to embroider, to make greeting letters, to knit and so on. There are 11 members in this organization, but there are users who sometimes want to work in a group, while some old ladies work on their own. In October, which is the month of old people, we organize the exhibition of handicraft, which is called "The Sunny Autumn of Life". From the raised funds, we buy the material for the future work and we give the awards to old ladies for their work.

- During 2004, within the organization of handicraft, we organized the work with clay. We got funds for the workshop called "I CAN ALSO DO THAT" from the Regional Department for Health and Social Politics. The participants of this workshop are our users, the workers of the institution and children and young people from schools and from nursery schools.

5) The gardener and the flower-grower

The primary task of this organization is the work in the yard, the keeping of greenhouses clean and the cultivation of flowers. There are 10 members in this organization, and vegetables that we produce in our garden, we use as fresh vegetables in our kitchen for our needs.

6) The organization of activities related to culture and amusement

This organization offers watching the television, playing the games such as chess, Dominoes, cards and so on, it organizes various kinds of performance, celebrations, trips, excursions, associating and the festival called "The Sunny Autumn of Life".
The most frequent kinds of the performance we organize are the following:
- The celebration of church holidays;
- The celebration of public and other holidays;
- The organization of the art colony (the income of the paintings which are sold is supposed to improve the medical protection of the users);
- "The Sunny Autumn of Life" - is in October when we have the series of activities for celebrating the month of old people;
- the associating with the users of the Gerontological Centres;
- the associating with humanitarian organizations and with retired persons in Bačka Palanka.

Besides, we also offer other activities, for example, children from primary schools and from nursery schools visit the Institution.
